28/09/2020 – Devotion of the day

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 6:1

We all love to receive appreciation and recognition for the work that we do. In fact, pscholygist say that this is essential for our emotional well-being and mental well being. But yet the Lord clearly gave instructions to his disciples and to us in His word that we are not to do charity and service to the Lord for our own recognition and reward.
We must be very careful when we carry the name of the Lord and do His service. All glory and honor must go to Him only. We are merely the vessels that He uses to extend His kingdom. When we submit to the Lord and recognize that it is He who is doing the work , we will decrease and He will increase and more of His power will flow through us. The moment we think it is us who is doing the work and if we seek our own reward, pride and earthly lust of the flesh will fill us and we begin to lose the kingdom purpose.
God wants to use us for His kingdom and reveal His power to us. Let us worship and serve Him with trembling and give Him all the glory and honor.
Prayer – Dear God, use me for the kingdom and let me serve you and the people you bring to me so that they can see you more and they are drawn to you. In Jesus name Amen
