You are strong when you are on your knees – Prayer brings victory
The disciples asked the Lord to teach them how to pray. We reach out to our friends and support system when we need help and most often we turn to prayer as the last option. Our perfect example is our Lord Jesus, who spend a lot of time in prayer and encouraged His disciples to pray even when He was about to be crucified on the cross for our sins.
Deliverance can be obtained through prayer
Troubles in this world are common and we all face situations at home, work and society where we need deliverance from people and situations that prevent us from receiving the blessings that God has kept for us. We must have the confidence that our Lord will hear us when we cry and He alone is our refuge. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. Psalm 34:6 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us Psalm 62:8
Peace in the midst of the storm
When the storms of life blow and it seems that all hope is lost, we must continue in prayer and make our needs known to God and keep praising Him. When we lift our voices to the Lord in praise, His peace flows in our hearts and we can pass through the storm. With His love, grace and mercy He will cover us and keep us safe. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Pray without ceasing
Be persistent in prayer, prayer is a dialogue with God. We must learn to hear His voice when we pray. God created us to have fellowship and a relationship with us. So He is always communicating with us. Prayer is like breathing, we must always stay tuned to listen to His voice. Prayer is not only for us to ask our petitions and request but a time for us to spend with the Lord and enjoy His presence. By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life. Psalm 42:8
How should we pray
Pray is very simple, it is just each one pouring out our hearts to the Lord. But we must also learn to pray according to what God’s word teaches us. We must get up early in the morning before dawn and pray. We must always be thankful for all the blessings that we have received. We must pray in the Lord’s name. We must devote our lives to prayer. Prayer is like exercising, when we start we go slow and gradually we train ourselves to build more endurance and power. In the same way, we must learn to fast and pray and through prayer achieve great things for the Lord. Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful Colossians 4:2 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Matthew 6:7 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
Praying for others
Praying for others is our calling. We are called not to live for ourselves but be the light in this dark world. People around us are searching for the truth, need deliverance and we can make a difference in their lives. Prayer makes us have a right standing with the Lord and when the righteous cry out the Lord hears and answers them. We must also pray for our leaders and especially for those who do not treat us well. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16 But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Luke 6:27-28
Prayer – Dear Lord, I desire to have a deeper relationship with you. I want to enjoy your presence and have a forecast of the kingdom of God. Help me have a disciplined prayer life and lay my burdens down and be in your presence. I praise and thank you for choosing me to enjoy this fellowship and relationship that comes in calling you Abba Father. In Jesus Name – Amen
